What you will leave with

  • A documented current-state route for one live workflow
  • A visualization kit for waits, rework, and capacity pockets
  • A critique rubric your team can reuse after the cohort
  • Guidance on which metrics belong on the map — and which stay in a separate report

Modules

1. Shadowing without the clipboard glare

Capture steps, tools, and interruptions without freezing the people you observe.

2. Route grammar for mixed teams

Agree on symbols for handoffs, parallel tracks, and soft waits that never appear in tickets.

3. Choosing visuals that survive meetings

Build ribbon charts, lane maps, and exception callouts that stay readable on a wall screen.

4. Metrics that belong on the canvas

Connect throughput, rework rate, and idle pockets to the shapes on your map.

5. Critique labs

Present your draft route; peers score clarity, honesty, and actionability.

6. Publishing & maintenance

Hand the map to owners, set a review cadence, and avoid version chaos.

Learner notes

“Module 3 forced us to delete two shiny charts. Painful, then useful — the lane map finally matched what cashiers described.”

— Ana R., store operations lead

Client in facilities management: “The critique lab was awkward in a good way. We still struggle with data exports from our old ticket tool, so the map is partly manual.”

FAQ

Do I need BI software already installed?

No. We start with observation and paper-friendly maps. Later modules show how to mirror the route in common BI tools if you have them.

Can one person take this for a whole department?

Yes, though maps stick better when at least one floor lead joins the critique labs.

What is a real limitation of this course?

We do not automate your data pipelines. If your source systems cannot export wait times, your map will rely on sampled observation until those exports exist — and we will say so plainly.

Is there a refund window?
